SWEETS Hotel Nieuve Amstelbrug
Living by the Water in Amsterdam’s Bridge Houses
For lovers of Dutch architecture, especially Amsterdam’s iconic bridges, SWEETS Hotel offers a truly unique experience.
Scattered throughout the city, these suites are nestled in charming former bridge houses that have been lovingly restored with meticulous attention to detail.
Each of these small houses has been expertly redesigned and outfitted for maximum comfort, blending skilled design with perfect space utilization.
Staying in one of these gems is a magical way to discover Amsterdam from an unparalleled local perspective.
In Amsterdam, people ride their bicycles as naturally and effortlessly as we walk, no matter the weather.
This dynamic scene is an inseparable part of the city’s charm.
Another quintessential movement that comes to mind when thinking of Amsterdam unfolds on its waterways.
The extensive network of canals, with their houseboats, barges, and boats, creates a picturesque and bustling hidden picture puzzle.
A key element of this enchanting scene is the small bridge houses, once manned by bridge keepers.
With the centralization of bridge operations, these quaint old houses stood empty and have now, to our delight, been transformed into a unique hotel.
SWEETS Hotel has distributed its "rooms" across various bridges in Amsterdam.
If you cherish individuality in your accommodation and don’t mind using the entire city as your breakfast room, lounge or spa, this place is perfect for you.
Admittedly, staying amidst the waterways can be a bit noisy at times, but earplugs are thoughtfully provided and the hotel’s website indicates the expected noise levels for each house.
We were thoroughly enchanted by our stay at the Nieuwe Amstelbrug house and are eager to experience another bridge house on our next visit.
