St. Bart - A British Pub with a Cozy Factor

Outside St. Bart bar in Berlin, guests sit at small tables by candlelight in the evening, with more people visible inside through the windows.

Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that leave the greatest impression - provided, of course, they’re done just right.

That’s exactly what makes St. Bart so special.

This pub in the Graefekiez neighborhood radiates an understated charm - vintage pendant lamps, a tiled bar and a timeworn wooden floor that seems to hold countless stories.

The laid-back crew moves at its own unhurried pace, exuding a calm that’s contagious.

As we sink our teeth into the Back Bacon Sandwich, slathered with homemade BBQ dip and complemented by tangy, house-pickled vegetables, we sip on a crisp IPA and imagine black cabs pulling up outside next to a classic red phone booth.

A Slice of London in Berlin

What we haven’t mentioned yet is the subtle coolness that gives St. Bart a touch reminiscent of London’s iconic St. John.

A large streetfacing window and an open pass to the kitchen invite curious glances into the heart of the action.

Over a stainless-steel gas stove, heavy cast-iron pans hang beneath retro Bolich lamps.

The sizzle of ingredients cooking mingles with the comforting hum of the pub.

Inside the dining area, colorful jars of homemade pickles are lined up on high shelves, adding a quirky charm.

Chalkboards display the day’s offerings in quick, slanted handwriting.

And items are crossed off with an unapologetic swipe as they sell out.

When the kitchen bell rings, dishes like anchovies in olive oil, fries with aioli, Brussels sprouts with chili butter or the Brick Chicken make their way to the tables.

Even the sourdough bread with its smoky oat butter is a simple, yet deeply satisfying, treat.

Cream, Chocolate and Caramel

The panna cotta for dessert, paired with a tangy citrus compote, achieves a perfect balance between sweet and tart - a nod to British flavors that rivals anything our favorite Italian spot might serve.

The Millionaire’s Shortbread is a nostalgic delight straight out of 1950s Scotland.

It’s a buttery shortbread topped with a rich caramel layer, crowned with a chocolate coating.

Cut into squares, this indulgent calorie bomb is something we happily surrender to.

So incredibly cozy

We linger outside for a moment after our feast, full and content.

Warm light inside and a candlelit smoking table beneath the tiled St. Bart sign outside tempts us to stay a little longer.

Perhaps we should have one of their nice cocktails and letting the cozy evening stretch on just a bit further.
