Brot & Butter - Café and Bakery at Manufactum
Manufactum, the store, known for its carefully curated selection of high-quality goods for home and garden, is, of course, not a hidden Munich gem - it’s found in several other cities too.
However, not every location boasts its own café “Brot & Butter”, like here in Munich.
Tucked into an unassuming corner at the front of the shop, it offers a wonderfully cozy spot to sit while watching the hustle and bustle of the city drift by through the large windows.
And everything from the in-house stone oven bakery can be taken home, fresh and ready to enjoy.
At Manufactum, the focus is on traditional craftsmanship and sustainability and this ethos carries over to “Brot & Butter”.
The coffee beans are slow-roasted over wood and the organic, premium milk plays a big part in the delicious caffè latte.
The cows, goats and sheep that produce the milk for their exceptional cheese selection graze on natural pastures, feeding on the best fodder.
The sausages, like the bread, are made using century-old artisanal methods.
The team that serves up crispy sourdough bread and fresh salads remains friendly and perfectly organized, even during the busiest lunch rush.
What surprises us most is the personal and warm service, despite the constant flow of guests throughout the day.
We love coming early in the morning, when the still-warm yeast buns or poppy seed rolls from the open bakery are served up with a cappuccino.
At this time of day, the atmosphere feels almost like a quaint neighborhood café.
