The Architect‘s Apartment-Cozy Home in Stockholm's Old Town

View through an open door into a bedroom with light wooden floor, single bed, grey armchair and round wall mirror; in the foreground a vase with two decorative dried palm leaves.

The spacious, tastefully furnished apartment in a dream location, right in the heart of the historic Old Town, is the perfect spot and ideal starting point for two people eager to explore Stockholm while feeling completely at home.

If you, like us, have a penchant for old buildings and appreciate the skilled touch of an architect's hand, you should definitely rent this place on your next visit to Stockholm.

Narrow cobbled alleyway in Gamla Stan, lined with tall old buildings and open windows; some façades are weathered, and bicycles are leaning against the walls in the distance.

Gamla Stan, Stockholm's Old Town, is one of the most popular spots for tourists visiting the Swedish capital.

It's easy to see why - besides the Royal Palace and the two venerable churches, the small island boasts beautifully maintained houses from the 17th and 18th centuries and plenty of dining and entertainment options.

As we prefer to feel a bit like locals and avoid tourist hotspots when in a new city, we were initially unsure if Henrik's apartment, right in the middle of Old Town, was the right fit for us.

Thankfully, the beautiful photos of the rooms and the pleasant communication with Henrik convinced us.

After spending four days here, we wished we could have stayed longer.

From the second floor, we look out from the bright living and dining room onto the lively Västerlånggatan and the same from the large bedroom.

Through the windows of the charming kitchen and the lovely white bathroom, we can see the old German Church.

Although we visit during Midsummer, it’s easy to imagine how cozy the apartment must be on long winter nights.

Our concerns about being overwhelmed by tourists quickly dissipated.

On the contrary, it was fun to watch the colorful hustle and bustle and experience how the streets turn quiet late in the evening, with the car-free cobblestone streets evoking a sense of bygone eras.

At Caffellini, right across from the apartment, we enjoyed delicious Italian espresso, and just around the corner, at the small coffee chain "Fabrique," we savored our beloved cardamom buns and Scandinavian specialty coffee.

By the end of our breakfast, we had only seen locals, and the morning in Gamla Stan was so delightful that we completely understood why so many other visitors are eager to be there.
