Who better than the Danes to make cool looks truly practical?
According to official climate tables, it rains in Denmark for up to 170 days a year – that’s almost every other day.
Even if we find that hard to believe, because Copenhagen keeps treating us to spotless blue skies time and again.
Either way, the Danish company Rains has perfectly translated the Scandi fashion style we love so much into casual rainwear.
Urban streetwear in artsy unisex styles - the kind we know and love from Acne Studios in Stockholm - comes with water-repellent or even waterproof finishes at Rains.
Microporous polyurethane is the eco-friendly coating of choice here.
And we’re delighted by how warm and dry our own ever-growing collection of Rains jackets and coats are, whilst still being breathable.
A thickly insulated oversized winter coat has now accompanied me through several winters, in Copenhagen just as much as in windy Berlin. And a lightweight, cropped bomber jacket has already proved its worth in this year’s summer rain.
New additions at Rains include rain boots, which we’ll definitely be taking a closer look at.

We particularly like the flagship store at Amagertorv.
Here, right in the heart of Copenhagen’s city centre, there are green views and plenty of light, so that even whilst shopping, warm and dry, we feel as though we’re right outdoors.
