Torvehallerne - Copenhagen’s heavenly Market Halls

The Torvehallerne are not just a feast for the eyes.

Two airy halls flank a large marketplace, which blooms with a sea of flowers.

Food trucks surround the square, offering delights like Korean Barbecue Chicken or tacos from Hija de Sanchez, making the choice deliciously difficult.

Inside the halls, we find a foodie paradise filled with Smørrebrød, cheeses, seafood, spices, cinnamon pastries, fresh juices, specialty coffee and everything a gourmet heart desires.

In other cities, it is often challenging for us as visitors to enjoy the wonderful raw products, since we usually return to our hotel rooms rather than to a fully equipped kitchen where we could prepare them.

In Torvehallerne, many delicacies are conveniently offered ready to eat.

We can enjoy most of them on-site at the small tables available in the market halls and outside amidst the fruits and flowers.

A small stand from Mikkeller Craft Beer not only offers coolly designed cans and bottles, but also the perfect tote bags to carry them, which can easily be filled with more than just beer as we continue our stroll.

Of course, bringing a cooler bag is a good idea to take some Danish treats home, making the end of a wonderful stay in Copenhagen a bit more bearable.
